About
Ryan the Artkitect is an Atlanta-based, Jamaican-American composer, arranger, producer, and recording artist. Despite rural New Jersey upbringings, the rhythms of the Caribbean run deep in his blood; from eagerly awaiting his Father’s Friday night radio show, to summer block parties in Crown Heights with his mother's side of the family. Ryan began his instrumental music journey at age 7, playing the violin in elementary school orchestra after his older brother had started studying the saxophone. At 8, the trumpet became his musical vessel, followed by the drums at age 9. His sincere respect for the rhythm, blues, funk, and soul of music has rooted him firmly on stages across the United States and abroad at venues such as The Doris Duke Theatre at Jacob's Pillow, New York City Center, The Hylton Performing Arts Center, Nimbus Arts Center, The Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Steel, World Café Live, The Majestic Cutler Theater, The Phoenix Theatre, Umbria Jazz Festival, and ABC's “The View”, as a musician and/or musical director with world-renowned artists, singers, and dancers alike.
