About
Ryan the Artkitect is a Jamaican-American composer, music producer, and recording artist from New Jersey. Despite his rural upbringing, the rhythms of the Caribbean run deep in his blood; from Friday nights at the radio station with his father, to summer block parties in Brooklyn with his mother's side of the family. Ryan began his instrumental music journey at age 7 playing the violin in his local elementary school orchestra after his older brother had started studying the saxophone. The sound of the horn soon called him to pick up the trumpet at age 8, and percussion shortly after. His sincere respect for rhythm and the soul of the music has rooted him firmly on stages across the United States and abroad at venues such as New York City Center, Nimbus Arts Center, The Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Steel, World Cafe Live, The Majestic Cutler Theater, The Phoenix Theatre, Umbria Jazz Festival, and ABC's “The View”, as a musician and musical director with world-renowned artists and dancers alike. When not on stage, he is often collaborating on projects in his production studio, The Studio at Wilberforce & Annie.
