An Endless Passion for Music
Ryan the Artkitect is a Jamaican-American musician, Bessie-nominated composer, music producer, and international recording artist. His artistry ebbs and flows between lush, vocal-esque tones on the trumpet and diligent, rhythmic precision on the drums and percussion.
Ryan’s sound has been molded on the stage and in the studio through recordings and live performances with musicians and collaborators from around the world. With the deepest respect for Reggae, Ska, Dancehall, Soca, The Blues, Rock, Gospel, Swing, Bebop, Hard Bop, Funk, Soul, Rap, and R&B, his music is the product of suburban black boy joy fused with 90’s Brooklyn block parties and electronic music. His work is a sonic exploration of the expansive ocean of emotions lived through the Black American experience, woven with live drums and brass instrumentation ranging from ethereal to visceral.
The New Jersey-native has performed as an accompanying musician at venues including Times Square, New York City Center, 54 Below, Nimbus Arts Center, The Phoenix Theater, Umbria Jazz Festival, ABC’s with view, World Café Live, The Majestic Cutler Theater, The Cutting Room, Little Island, and Brooklyn Steel, sharing the stage with world-renowned percussive dancers, singers, producers, and recording artists.
In the fall of 2025, Ryan released “F.E.A.R.” (false evidence appearing real), marking his debut as a multi-hyphenate artist.
